Organ donation and transplantation are about people. It is about people who have been fighting simply to stay alive. They need a hero to save their lives. It is about people who made the decision to say yes to donation, and when they passed away, they saved and healed others. It is about people who decided to donate a kidney or a portion of their liver while they were still alive. It is about the tissue donor who unknowingly saved a burn victim. It is about the most precious gift any of us have been given…Life.

Catcher Mccardell

Catcher McCardell, a 14-year-old Eagle Scout candidate, was on a family vacation last year observing a variety of license plates on the vehicles of other “road trippers.”

One plate in particular, a DONATE LIFE specialty plate, caught his eye. “Why doesn’t Utah have a DONATE LIFE license plate?” he asked his mother.

Big Jim grew up in Indiana. He moved to Utah after serving in the Vietnam War. In Jan of 2008, he started feeling Ill. 

Prior to passing, he sponsored more than 200 individuals while working with Alcoholics Anonymous.

"He was an incredibly authentic man who connected with other humans in a way I have never seen before," said his daughter, Tiffany Blue.

Park City Fire District Engineer Henry Evans has run into many burning buildings to save strangers. So when his cousin went into renal failure and needed a kidney, Henry responded without hesitation. 

The problem was that Henry and his cousin were not a match. However, he still wanted to help.

Three-year-old Tayzli Hale loved dancing, singing, playing with her brothers, and riding horses.

Tayzli was thrown from her horse when an approaching car spooked the animal. When she fell, she hit her head and suffered a traumatic brain injury.

"Ultimately, we decided to help as many people as we could by donating her organs” said her mother, Whitney Hale.
