DonorConnect hosts five 5K/2K fun runs each year. These are held in various locations throughout our service area in hopes that those interested will be able to attend at least one event. These fun run events give people an opportunity to join with others to honor those who have given the gift of life and to celebrate with those who were given a second chance. We give a discount for teams to encourage participants to share the day with friends and family.
Additionally, we hold a gathering at the end of August for family members and friends to honor the gift of life their loved one provided by seeing his or her name on The Celebration of Life Monument. The monument was developed and built by Utah’s Donate Life Coalition (which includes DonorConnect, Utah Lions Eye Bank, and the University of Utah Whole Body Program) as a memorial to organ, eye, tissue, whole-body and living donors and their families, as well as a motivator to others to save and heal lives through donation.
Every other year, DonorConnect hosts a Donation and Transplantation Symposium to connect our partners together to learn more about how they impact organ, eye, and tissue donation.
Thank you to all those that participated and contributed in our Dash for Donation events in Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City and Leavitts Mortuary in Ogden. We hope you will plan to join us again next year and spread the word. Please click here for more information.
On August 24, donor family members and friends gathered at The Celebration of Life Monument to honor the names added this year of individuals who were organ, eye, tissue, whole body and living donors. We look forward to next year’s event on August 29, 2020. Please click herefor more information.
On October 23, DonorConnect will host it’s 6th Biennial Donation and Transplantation Symposium at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. Medical professionals and colleagues from critical care, surgical, social work, chaplain services, palliative care, transplant services, funeral homes and law enforcement will make connections to better understand how they impact organ, eye, and tissue donation.
