DonorConnect hosts five 5K/2K fun runs each year. These are held in various locations throughout our service area in hopes that those interested will be able to attend at least one event. These fun run events give people an opportunity to join with others to honor those who have given the gift of life and to celebrate with those who were given a second chance. We give a discount for teams to encourage participants to share the day with friends and family.
Additionally, we hold a gathering at the end of August for family members and friends to honor the gift of life their loved one provided by adding his or her name on The Celebration of Life Monument. The monument was developed and built by Utah’s Donate Life Coalition (which includes DonorConnect, Utah Lions Eye Bank, and the University of Utah Whole Body Program) as a memorial to organ, eye, tissue, whole-body and living donors and their families, as well as a motivator to others to save and heal lives through donation.
Every other year, DonorConnect hosts a Donation and Transplantation Symposium to connect our partners together to learn more about how they impact organ, eye, and tissue donation.
On October 23, DonorConnect will host it’s 6th Biennial Donation and Transplantation Symposium at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. Medical professionals and colleagues from critical care, surgical, social work, chaplain services, palliative care, transplant services, funeral homes and law enforcement will make connections to better understand how they impact organ, eye, and tissue donation. During National Donor Sabbath, faith leaders from many religions, donor families, transplant recipients, and donation and transplantation professionals participate in services and programs to educate the public about the need for the lifesaving and healing gifts passed to others through transplantation, while also encouraging people to register their decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donors.
This provides the perfect opportunity to share the message of donation with your congregation. If you have ideas of how you might help, we would love to hear from you. We can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or info@yesidaho,org.
