Priscilla was a daughter, a mother, sister, aunt, family member and friend to all. She had a spitfire personality, but her smile was contagious and lit up every room she walked into; it was her smile that many considered to be her best attribute. Everyone who knew her was a recipient at one time of her endless giving and selfless acts of kindness, earning her the nickname “Mamacilla.”
She passed away at the young age of 40 in October of 2015. Her passing happened so fast, it made it very difficult to move forward with her wish to donate; we now see how her donation has made such a positive impact on so many lives. She was healthy and able to donate everything, organs, eyes, tissues, skin, muscle, etc.
As a family we have gained a new respect for the donation process as we have learned more about the power of a donor gift and the impact it makes on a recipient. In the past five years since her passing, we have had the opportunity to communicate with 3 organ recipients. Specifically, we have built an amazing relationship with Stan Taylor who lives here locally in Utah, who is double lung transplant recipient.
While the pain of losing Priscilla never goes away, we have found some peace and closure with each passing year. We know that she continues to live on and continues to bring joy in other ways.
