“I was diagnosed at age three with an autoimmune liver disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis as well as Crohn’s disease. At 11 years old, I was put on the liver transplant waiting list. After four and a half years on the list, I received a new liver on December 31st, 2017.
This selfless gift has given me a second chance – a newfound hope and purpose for life. I am able to plan for the future and accomplish goals that I never thought possible, and I am so very grateful for that.
Because of my donor I will be attending the University of Utah this fall to study biology and I am hoping to attend medical school in the future.
Organ donation has had such a huge impact on my life and I want to do my part to advocate for those who are still waiting. I hope sharing my story and volunteering will encourage more people to register to be organ donors.”
